Riverside County Drowning Prevention Campaign

Drowning is the leading cause of death among children under the age of five in Riverside County and across California.  Sadly, 37 near-drownings and 10 drownings have been reported in Riverside County this year (as of Aug. 24, 2015), including the deaths of three children age five and under.

The Riverside County Board of Supervisors, CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department and other departments unveiled a countywide water safety campaign aimed at protecting children whenever they are around water.

We can all prevent drownings with a few simple precautions.  A list of life-saving tips can be found here: http://www.rvcfire.org/Documents/WaterSafetyFlyer.pdf

This initiative will reinforce the importance of keeping children safe around water.  By enlisting the entire community in this effort, we can save lives.
