Benoit today launched a month-long drive to collect cell phones to benefit seniors in the Riverside County Office on Aging 911 Emergency Cell Phone Program. Through Supervisor Benoit’s partnership with the YMCA and Riverside County Office on Aging, donated cell phones will be collected and delivered to at-risk elders for emergency 911 use only. The program will reach seniors who are 60 years of age or older, who live alone or with caregivers, and are no longer able to drive and may have difficulty reaching a stationary phone.

RIVERSIDE – At today’s Board of Supervisors meeting, Riverside County Supervisor John J. Benoit called upon his colleagues to review the impact of California’s global warming legislation (AB 32) on Riverside County’s economy and draft a letter to Governor Schwarzenegger requesting its repeal and/or suspension. The Board decided to assess the impacts on Riverside County’s economy and revisit the issue on February 9.
