Mecca and Thermal Design Guideline Workshops
MECCA & THERMAL - Residents, business and landowners are encouraged to attend two upcoming workshops on the future design of the Mecca and Thermal communities. The County of Riverside is currently developing "community design guidelines," a set of policies for new building in the community.
"Design Guidelines," help the community establish an aesthetic and orderly development process. Consultants for the county are attempting to develop a theme for the community, with colors, landscaping and other design elements which promote harmonious development. The goal—with input from the community is to maintain and enhance the beauty of the community and to develop entry monuments which help to establish community identity.
Design guidelines are needed prior to development activity in a community. The County of Riverside is currently in the planning and development stage of capital improvement projects in Mecca such as the Mecca Library, Sheriff’s Sub Station, Fire Station, street improvement project, housing development and Boys and Girls Club.
Down the road in Thermal, there are plans for the Thermal Sheriff’s Station and Aviation Education Center, Thermal Fire Station, street improvement project, and housing developments.
