"Family-to-Family Forum in Coachella"
COACHELLA - The focus will be on the family, and on communication, when the Children’s Division of the Department of Public Social Services brings its 2nd Community Forum to Coachella.
The Children’s Division is engaged in a practice initiative called "Family to Family." One of the goals of the initiative is build community partnerships, both provider-to-family and family-to family.
"Part of engaging the community is being open to an honest assessment of how the community perceives us and what we can do to improve the relationship," said Michael Byers, Regional Manager for Child Protective Services. "Our hope is to develop a better understanding of the community’s needs, address their concerns, and improve our service to the community.
"We will be addressing the issues brought up at our last forum and talking in more detail about our Family to Family efforts."
Child Protective Services has held several community forums in Indio over the past two years, but is trying to expand their outreach to the Coachella community this year.
The event takes place Tuesday, June 5, at 7 p.m. at the Coachella Boys and Girls Club, 85350 Bagdad Avenue. For more information, call Lucy Sloan at 863-7367. Spanish translations services are available.
