Workforce Development Center in Indio Can Be a Lifesaver in Troubled Times

INDIO - Has the state of the economy got you down? Is your job in the construction industry in jeopardy? Do you need help with a career change, housing or a boost to your business?

The Workforce Development Center in Indio may have just what you need. An extensive collaboration of county, state, schools and non-profit agencies are located at the “WDC” in Indio providing help in all of these areas, and more.

The WDC is a great resource whether you want assistance for yourself, your family or your business. If you’re looking for employment, the “One-Stop” system allows most job-seekers self-service access to: Internet-connected computers, county and state job match sites, job postings, resume preparation, labor market information, informational workshops and a reference material library.

More one-on-one assistance is provided through program eligibility requirements. There are individualized programs for job-seekers that include the general population, veterans, migrant and seasonal farm workers, persons with disabilities, youth, welfare recipients, underemployed workers and workers that have lost their jobs due to plant closure or through a lay-off. You can also apply for temporary or full-time employment with the County at the Workforce Development Center.

Individuals and/or their families that qualify will find agencies located at the WDC in Indio that can provide housing assistance in the form of subsidized rent, first time home buyer down payments, mortgage credits, home repairs and replacement of mobile homes.

If you or a family member want to further your post-secondary education, seek technical skills up-grading, pursue a GED or learn or improve your English, the WDC in Indio provides all of these educational opportunities on-site.

As a business owner there are various levels of assistance provided to connect you with your greatest resource….qualified candidates for your job openings. Services range from as basic as posting your jobs to as intensive as prescreening candidates for your business-only recruitment. One of the most popular events is the monthly Job Connections. This recruitment allows a maximum of fifteen employers the opportunity to meet and interview between 300 and 400 potential future employees.

Other resources and services that benefit businesses relate to economic development, redevelopment and entrepreneurial commerce.
