"ABOP" Added to Trashbuster Event
Eastern Coachella Valley - The Riverside County Waste Management Department,
responding to a request from Fourth District Supervisor Roy Wilson, has announced that it will
handle additional household waste during the upcoming Trashbuster Event on Saturday, Oct. 6.
An "ABOP" processing facility will be added, allowing residents of the area to dispose of
Antifreeze, batteries, oil and batteries—normally items that are very difficult to dispose of in an
environmentally-responsible manner.
"It’s important to remember that oil filters will also be accepted at the ABOP," said Hans
Kernkamp, director of the Waste Management Department. “Also, only latex paints will be accepted
during the Oct. 6th event.
"However, we will additionally conduct a Household Hazardous Waste collection event at the
Oasis Landfill, on October 27th, and that will be a major help in getting rid of the really
difficult items, like chlorine bleach, nail polish, shoe dye, mercury dye, electronic waste,
insecticides, and the like."

"Supervisor Wilson has asked us to ensure that we put our best effort forward in ensuring
safe disposal of hazardous products and items, and we aim to do just that,” Kernkamp said.
