New Fire Station Gets Ribbon Cutter in North Indio

It's the first new fire station constructed in Indio in 28 years, and it gets its official christening Wednesday, Nov. 7, at 11 a.m.

The new Shadow Hills fire station is a $4.2 million state of the art facility, with construction funding coming through a developer agreement with Pulte Homes.

The station will house a paramedic fire engine and a paramedic ambulance, and it will have minimum 5-person staffing 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. The facility is capable of housing a total of 15 personnel.

Fully functional, and self contained, the fire station is designed to remain in operation even after a major disaster strikes.

The public is invited to attend the grand opening ceremonies and to get a closer look at the new facility, dubbed Indio Fire Station #4/Riverside County Fire Station 80.

The station is located at 81-025 Avenue 40.
