Youth Advisory Council Helping the Homeless
The Fourth District Youth Advisory Council each year establishes community service goals and one of their goals for this year is to help the homeless.
And so far, they have been working very hard toward this goal.
The Youth Advisory Council is currently hosting a "Hygiene Kit Supplies Drive." They're hoping to provide 1,000 kits for the homeless who attend the "Project Homeless Connect" event at Martha's Village and Kitchen in Indio on Tuesday, December 4th.
The hygiene kits will contain toothbrushes and toothpaste, combs, deodorant, shampoo and bar soap, hand sanitizer, feminine hygiene products, hand towels, and a ziplock bag to contain them. The YAC members are looking for donations-the products themselves, or cash-and they're hoping the community will help them with obtaining the large amount of supplies needed.
"I am pleased that we have so many motivated and dedicated individuals in the council this year," says Noel Loughrin, Youth Advisory Council Coordinator. "The members set goals for themselves and they are doing everything they can to reach them."
The Hygiene Kit drive runs from Thursday, November 1st through Monday, November 26th. Donations can be dropped off at Supervisor Roy Wilson's Office in Palm Desert, 73-710 Fred Waring, or at the Blythe office, 260 N Broadway. If you have any questions you can contact Noel Loughrin at (760)863-8211 or email at Dist4YAC@rcbos.org.
