Two New Community Leaders Take Positions on Community Councils
District 4 -Fourth District Supervisor Roy Wilson announced the appointment of two new community council members this week- one to the Thermal Community Council and one to the Thousand Palms Community Council.
"I am very pleased at the high quality of these latest appointments, " said Supervisor Wilson. "It's a trend that I hope will continue in the future."
Ernesto Rios, a lifelong resident of Thermal, earned a MBA in entrepreneurial management from the University of California at Riverside after earning a bachelor's degree in history, public science and film. After earning his master's degree, Rios returned to his home town to start his own business, and to consult for other area firms.
Greg Pinney, a long-time resident of Tri-Palm (now "Shenandoah") Estates, is branch manager of the only bank in Thousand PalmsRabobank on Ramon Road. Pinney regularly meets with people who are interested in investing in Thousand Palms, and an interview panel recommended him to Supervisor Wilson to fill a vacancy on the council.
The Fourth District has 12 community councils, meaning 60 community residents or business people are needed to fill these volunteer posts. And that translates into frequent vacancies. If you're a resident of Thousand Palms, Bermuda Dunes, Desert Edge, Sky Valley, Indio Hills, Mecca, Thermal, Oasis, Vista Santa Rosa, North Shore, Mesa Verde or Ripley and you'd like to serve in this volunteer role, call the Supervisor's office at 863-8211 and request an application form.
A variety of other volunteer positions become available, also, from time to time. If you indicate your fields of interest on the application form, there's a good chance you will be selected for a position in the future.
