Why, it's the "Trails Day" event, sponsored by the City of La Quinta, the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument, the Community Trails Alliance and the Friends of the Desert Mountains.
"It's all free, and with the kind of weather we're having this time of year, how can you miss?" said Trails Alliance Executive Director LeGrand Velez. "We welcome the public to join us-just be sure to wear comfortable shoes and clothing."
The event is Saturday, from 8 a.m. till 10 a.m., with stargazing beginning at 6:30 p.m. The event gets under way next to the Bear Creek Trail on the corner of Madero and Tecate.
