New Flood District Assistant Chief Engineer Appointed

Steve Thomas, a long-term veteran of the County Flood Control and Water Conservation District, has been appointed Assistant Chief Engineer, replacing the retiring Michael Rawson.

"Steve has been with the District for nearly 27 years and for the last four years has served as the Chief of Operations," said Dusty Williams, General Manager-Chief Engineer. "Steve brings to the job a varied background, having been involved in developing many of the District's master drainage plans, as well as being the project engineer on many complicated design projects."

Thomas, a graduate of Cal State Long Beach, and a registered civil engineer, spent several years as the County's federal projects coordinator and authored hundreds of administrative agreements.

His most recent assignment, as Operations Chief, had Thomas in charge of the District's entire maintenance function and rights of way acquisition efforts.

Rawson, who is retiring this month, served with the District since 1979.
