Mecca "Improvement Plan" Yields Big Results

County of Riverside Code Enforcement Department's fourth community meeting

Four months after initiating a "Community Improvement Plan," substantial gains in the beauty and safety of Mecca neighborhoods are already being realized.

Launched by the County of Riverside's Code Enforcement Department last September, the program is designed to compliment the efforts of the County's Economic Development Agency in enhancing the community.

Some of the successes realized in the program thus far: well-attended meetings for the public, education on code enforcement and its processes, and a substantial reduction in violations regarding rubbish, inoperative vehicles, substandard structures and animal violations.

"Already, we're seeing Mecca is becoming a nicer place to live in-and a safer place," said Fourth District Supervisor Roy Wilson. "We're encouraged that people are realizing that code enforcement is an important tool to improve the quality of life."
