62nd Annual Date Festival Fair Christened; Festivities, Fun and Food Ahead

Date Festival Court

Queen Scheherazade and her Court and Fourth District Supervisor Roy Wilson launched the 62nd Annual Riverside County Fair and National Date Festival this morning in front of the gates of the historic Date Festival Fairgrounds.

There was the usual blessing of the grapes, and a welcome talk by Indio Mayor Lupe Ramos-Watson, and a VERY odd assortment of Festival “talent” joining in the fun.

Big time entertainment, fun for the kids, carnival rides from tame to crazy, monster trucks, cotton candy (and deep fried twinkies—yum!), livestock, artwork await, as does a list of things too long to mention here.

Join the fun, early an often over the next 10 days. It only comes along once a year.
