Supervisors Fund Foreclosure Prevention Program
The Riverside County Board of Supervisors has approved spending $40,000 to help the Fair Housing Council of Riverside County, Inc., counsel homeowners in danger of losing their homes.
Fair Housing Council provides counseling to homeowners who are experiencing mortgage delinquency and/or foreclosure—and they are swamped. The number of residents who are in financial trouble has risen dramatically because of predatory lending practices, sub-prime loans and resetting of adjustable rate loans.
To that end, the $40,000 from the Board will enable Fair Housing to expand their counseling services, in accordance with the increased demand.
The Fair Housing Council has offices in Coachella and Palm Springs, as well as in the western end of the County.
