Vista Santa Rosa Land Use Plan Moving Forward

They’ve been trying to hammer out a land use plan in Vista Santa Rosa for years now, and the finish line is finally in sight.

On Thursday, Feb. 7, at the County’s Desert Permit Assistance Center (across Washington Street from Sun City Palm Desert), the Vista Santa Rosa Task Force will meet for the last time before sending the draft plan on to the community at large, via a town hall meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at Coachella Valley High School.

The Task Force meeting this Thursday gets under way at 3 p.m. The purpose of the Task Force meetings has been to provide County Planners with some community input so that a draft plan—to be scrutinized at the public town hall—could be drawn up as a starting point. The Task Force members comprised farmers, residents, developers and other interested parties.

The town hall meeting on the 13 th is set to get under way at 6 p.m. at Coachella Valley High School. The public is expected to critique the draft plan, and to provide input to County Staff.

Eventually, the plan will be presented to the Vista Santa Rosa Community Council, the Airport Land Use Commission, the County Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisors.

At each step in the process, there will be provisions for public input. The finished plan will guide the land use planning process in Vista Santa Rosa, with an emphasis on preserving the community unique rural and equestrian identity as development occurs.

Vista Santa Rosa is an unincorporated community in the eastern valley, bordered by La Quinta and Coachella.
