Update on Highway 111 Closure in South Valley
Officials now say that the dangers caused by heavy equipment moving contaminated soil from the area of Monday night's train derailment will prevent Highway 111 from re-opening for at least another 24 hours.
Earlier, there was notice that North Shore residents would be allowed to use the highway if they could prove residency.
The only people who will be allowed to use 111 are those who reside in the evacuation area.
North Shore residents, like all other motorists, will have to use the detour route, which is east on 66th Avenue, south on Garfield and east on 70th.
