4th District Students to Participate to Youth Summit
Five hundred students from across Riverside County-more than 100 of them from the Fourth District--will gather Thursday, March 20 at the Eighth Annual Youth Summit to explore the problems that affect their lives and to look for solutions.
Topics will include peer pressure and ways to live healthy and happy lives. The activities will encourage participants to live healthy lifestyles, make good life choices and prepare for success. Students also will learn about self-defense strategies, tips on eating right, and strategies for overcoming peer pressure.
The Youth Summit’s mission is to recognize the importance of uniting and integrating young people into solution, planning and decision-making processes in the community.
"It is exciting to watch our future, the young people in our community, get involved in Riverside County’s governmental process," Supervisor Jeff Stone said. "The summit will be a wonderful opportunity for young people to get involved, become aware and influence the lives of their peers."
Fourth District Supervisor Roy Wilson concurred.
"This is a great opportunity for our students to experience the thought processes of students outside of the desert area," he said. "And, we think our kids’ viewpoints will be a valuable contribution, as well."
The event is not open to the public but media representatives are welcome to attend and report on the perspectives of young people in the community.
The summit will be held at Big League Dreams Sports Park, 10550 Cantu-Galleano Ranch Road in Mira Loma and runs from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. For more information, please contact Consuelo Arias, legislative intern to Supervisor Jeff Stone, at (951) 791-3462.
