Assemblyman Benoit Joins Supervisor Wilson in Emergency Forum
Assemblyman John J. Benoit (R-Bermuda Dunes) will be hosting an emergency preparedness forum with Fourth District Supervisor Roy Wilson this Thursday, March 20, from 10 a.m. till noon at the Palm Desert City Council Chambers. Also participating in this valuable forum will be the California Department of Homeland Security, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, the Governor's Office of Emergency Services and the Riverside County Fire Department.
"My forum will share ideas from professionals in public safety and emergency coordination, so that you and your family can discuss planning for the unthinkable calamity," Benoit said.
Joining Assemblyman Benoit and Supervisor Wilson for this event will by Direction Matthew Bettenhausen of the California Department of Homeland Security.
On Friday, March 21, the assemblyman will host a seminar on identity theft prevention at the Sunset View Clubhouse in Sun City Palm Desert, with presentations from Riverside County C.A.R.E. and the Riverside County Sheriff's Office. Topics of the seminar will include protective measures against identity theft, Social Security fraud, mail fraud, and a legislative update about identity theft bills.
"Identity theft is a crime that we are all prone to, especially when we're not careful about protecting our personal information," said Assemblyman Benoit. "This seminar is designed to educate and empower people of all ages to be aggressive in guarding sensitive information and being on the look out for the latest efforts of scammers, phishers, and hackers."
