County Board Raises Bar on Drought-Tolerant Landscaping
With an eye on the ever-worsening water crisis in Southern California, the Riverside County Board of Supervisors moved the deadline for residential developments to incorporate drought tolerant landscaping.
Approval of Ordinance 859.1 moves up the date (from July 2010 to April, 2008) a requirement that single family tract homes comply with water-efficient landscape standards already in effect for commercial, industrial, and multi-family projects. In addition, 859.1 requires model homes and perimeter landscaping also comply with drought tolerant rules.
