Desert Lyceum 2008 Summit

It could be a whole new economy that the Coachella Valley is getting a glimpse of, as the University of California, Riverside's Palm Desert Graduate Center presents its 2008 Summit on "Energy, Environment and Economic Change."

The day-long program is April 25, from 7 a.m. till 5 p.m. at the Renaissance Esmeralda Resort in Indian Wells.

A distinguished panel of national experts and community leaders will address the possibilities embodied in advanced energy efficiency and job growth in the new "eco-economy."

Keynote speakers include Anthony Brunello, Deputy Secretary for Climate Change & Energy with the California Resources Agency; and Michael Peevey, President of the California Utilities Commission.

Breakout session topics include: "Green Programs: Creating Sustainable Buildings?"; Can We Create a 21st Century Workforce?"; and "Are We Ready for CleanTech and GreenTech?" among others.

The Desert Lyceum is Co-Chaired by Supervisor Roy Wilson and Carolyn Start, University of California, Riverside.
