Yacht Club in North Shore: New Lease on Life?
The Riverside County Board of Supervisors Tuesday approved $60,000 for a study of the old North Shore Yacht Club to see if the structure is suitable for renovation.
This is not just any old structure. Just feet from the shores of the Salton Sea, the 50-year-old building was designed by renowned architect Albert Frey, and has long stood as both a local landmark and a reminder of the glory days of the Salton Sea.
Holt Architects of Rancho Mirage is the firm selected to do the work, due the firms experience and successful completion of similar projects for the County.
The vision for the old structure, should renovation prove feasible, is to have it serve as a community center and as the beautiful landmark it was intended to be back during its construction in 1958.
These costs will be covered by a separate financing authority, established for Fourth District
projects, so no additional Net County Cost will be incurred as a result of the project.
