Rivco Chief Larry Parrish Announces Retirement
The Chief Executive Officer of the County of Riverside for 16 years, Larry Parrish has officially announced his retirement. The Coachella Valley resident says his last day on the job will be July 30.
The Board of Supervisors this morning praised Parrish's performance through the turbulent times of unprecedented growth with vacillating economic conditions.
Serving in the top post since March 1992, Parrish manages County finances and operations, consistent with the policies established by the Board of Supervisors. Although courted by other governmental agencies through the years, Parrish-with some encouragement by the Board of Supervisors-has chosen to remain with Riverside County.
"We certainly are losing an extraordinarily capable chief executive," Fourth District Supervisor and Chairman Roy Wilson said after Parrish had made public his retirement plans. "Throughout his long career with the County, he has consistently steered us in the right direction, to the ultimate benefit of Riverside County residents.
"I don't know how we will fill his shoes."
Parrish says he's quitting to enjoy more time with his wife Kathie, and that he wants to spend
more time contributing to the Coachella Valley, his home. The couple reside in Rancho Mirage.
