Still No Word on the Cause of the Dos Palmas Fire
Firefighters say the cause of the 261 acre fire at the Dos Palmas Preserve near North Shore is still under investigation.
If there's any good news about the conflagration which destroyed many of the old palm trees which lined the preserve's lagoons, it's this: Only one minor firefighter injury was sustained, and the old Dos Palmas ranch house was spared.
The fire broke out Sunday afternoon, April 13; it was contained Tuesday evening; and full control is expected by tonight.
The Dos Palmas Preserve is on Bureau of Land Management-controlled land southeast of the unincorporated community of North Shore.
