New Code Enforcement Office Opens in Thousand Palms

Ribbon cutting duties at the new Code Enforcement office in Thousand Palms

Fourth District Supervisor Roy Wilson joined Department heads Jay Orr (Code Enforcement) and Rob Field (Facilities Management) and Thousand Palms Community Council Chairman Greg Pinney in cutting the ribbon on the new Riverside County Code Enforcement Office in Thousand Palms.
“A year and a half ago, the Board of Supervisors charged Jay Orr with making the Code Enforcement Department a more effective organization,” Supervisor Wilson said. “Jay has certainly brought a new presence and visibility to the department, and this centrally-located office will allow us to serve our unincorporated communities much more effectively.”
The Supervisor noted that the Code Enforcement presence in Thousand Palms will not only benefit that community, but also Desert Edge, Sky Valley, Indio Hills and Bermuda Dunes.
Orr noted that the Fourth District is the only county district with a fully-staffed office—d ue in part to the immense size of the Fourth—and that he plans to spend time in the Thousand Palms office, to get to know the local area better. He pointed out that smaller, satellite offices will continue to function in the DACE building in Coachella, in Mecca, and in Thermal.
The large crowd on hand for the opening ceremonies was treated to a tour of the new offices, which are now in full operation. Services are available in both English and Spanish, and the office is open from 8 to 5 weekdays.
