YMCA of the Desert Annual Golf Tourney is May 29
The Family YMCA of the Desert will host its fourth annual Charity Golf Tournament on Thursday, May 29, at the J.W. Marriott Desert Springs Resort in Palm Desert. Registration and pre-tournament games will take place at 11:30am with a 12:30pm shotgun start. Following the tournament, players are invited to gather at Costa’s Nightclub, located within the Marriott Desert Springs, for an after-party featuring heavy hors d’oeuvres, no-host cocktails, music, raffle prize giveaways, and an awards presentation.
The cost for each participant is $125. Attendance at the cocktail party and awards ceremony at Costa’s only, for those not golfing, will be $55/person, for which pre-registration is also required. Sponsors are invited to the awards after-party as guests of the YMCA.
Players are invited to build their own foursomes or register on their own to be placed in a draw to create foursomes. The event will feature a four-player scramble.
Big break pre-tournament games will begin on the driving range at 11:30am, to include The Wall, Paper Glass, and Moving Cart.
On course games during the tournament will include Long Drive, Closest to the Pin, Hole of Fun, and Circle Hole, and prizes will be awarded. Just-for-fun raffle games will include Pace of Play and Greens in Regulation.
The special day is made possible by the efforts of Tim Skogen, Area Director of Golf Operations at the Marriott Desert Springs and Family YMCA Board member, along with General Manager Ken Schwartz and Golf Tournament Coordinator Bob Tamblyn.
Proceeds will benefit the Palm Springs YMCA’s activity, childcare, and financial assistance programs. Over 100 people are expected to play, including community partners and leaders, YMCA Board members, and members of the media.

All sponsors and donors will be recognized in the tournament’s program, in media outreach, and at the awards party at Costa’s.
