Supervisors Create Desert Palms Community Council

As expected, the Riverside County Board of Supervisors has created the Desert Palms Community Council, bringing to 13 the number of the advisory panels in the Fourth District.

A total of 20 people are vying for five seats on the new council. Supervisor Roy Wilson will take his recommendations to the Board of Supervisors in approximately one month. The community council will be the Supervisors eyes and ears in the community, reporting back to him on a variety of issues.

It is likely that the Desert Palms Community Council will meet for the first time in September or October, exact date, time and venue yet to be announced. At that first meeting, the council members will select a chair, vice chair and secretary, and will establish a permanent meeting date and venue. As a rule, community councils meet monthly on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday evening at 6 p.m., but Board of Supervisors Policy only requires quarterly meetings. In addition, most community councils go dark in July and August.
