Ground Breaks on New Indio Hills Center

Fourth District Supervisor Roy Wilson helped the County’s Economic Development Agency and residents of the community of Indio Hills break ground on a new community center on Tuesday afternoon.

Construction starts in the near future on the $1.8 million facility, which, at more than 3,000 square feet, will be roughly twice the size of the current community center.  The old building needed retrofitting for ADA compliance and other issues which would have cost as much as building a new facility.

The new building will be built on the same site as the old structure, which will be razed after construction is complete.  That’s expected to be next spring.

A large turnout heard Supervisor Wilson, Indio Hills Community Council Chairman Ben Bluemm, and EDA Assistant Director Colby Cataldi talk about the community’s newest addition.
