Latest Fugitive Wanted for Assault with a Deadly Weapon
The latest “Fugitive of the Week” is wanted for shooting a man during an argument last April in Coachella.
The Sheriff’s Department says 40-year-old Javier Yanez Lua assaulted the victim in the parking lot of a local market. The victim had engaged the fugitive in an argument about Lua’s alleged sexual assault of the victim’s wife.
The argument moved from the market into the parking lot, where Lua allegedly pulled out a handgun and shot the victim, in front of the victim’s 6-year-old daughter.
The victim survived, but Lua remains at large. Anyone with more information on Lua’s whereabouts is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers at 341-STOP.
