Supervisors Name July 'Recreation and Parks Month'

In a move which corresponds with the leisure time of summer, the Riverside County Board of Supervisors gave a nod to the importance of recreation in the lives of residents.

The Board passed a resolution proclamation July 2008 "Recreation and Parks Month."

Noting the importance of recreation and parks programs in the quality of life for county residents, the resolution notes that "The Economic Development Agency of riverside county through its Community Services Division has created recreational programs to bring residents into local parks and provide activities for young people to live healthier lives and develop into contributing members of society, as well as provide positive life experiences for all residents."

The resolution notes that recreational pursuits contribute to a Public Health goal of promoting healthy living, and that parks and recreation create a "sense of community."

So, here in the 4th District, let's all get out there and... well let's maybe wait till the sun goes down to head for the park.
