'DACE' Recognized for Excellence by Federal EDA
The Desert Alliance for Community Empowerment (DACE), headquartered in Coachella, was presented an award by the U.S. Economic Development Administration and Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack.
The 2008 EDA “Excellence in Economic Development Award in the category of Community and Faith-Based Social Entrepreneurship” was presented to Dace Board President Max Schoenrock in a Saturday ceremony at the Desert Alliance building in Coachella.
With DACE Executive Director, Fourth District Supervisor Roy Wilson and Coachella Mayor Eduardo Garcia looking on, Schoenrock accepted the award from Bono-Mack and EDA Assistant Secretary Sandy K. Baruah. Schoenrock gave credit to the hard work of the DACE staff for achieving the national honor.
“The Desert Alliance for Community Empowerment provides critical services to our region at a time when people need it the most,” said Bono Mack. “Through its collaborative and innovative approach, DACE is strategically involved in efforts to boost our local economy and enhance quality of life for residents of Eastern Riverside County and the Coachella Valley.
“Under the leadership of Jeff Hays, DACE is a valuable asset to the entire region, and is most
deserving of this honor. I join many throughout Riverside County in extending my congratulations
and thanks to DACE and its entire staff.”
