Three Appointed to Represent Valley at IID Board

Three well-known Coachella Valley residents have been appointed by the Riverside County Board of Supervisors to serve on the IID Energy Consumers Advisory Committee.

Former Rivco Chief Executive Officer Larry Parrish, CVAG Executive Director John Wohlmuth, and Southern Coachella Valley Community Services District Chair Beck Broughton will take their seats on a panel which also includes representation from the Cities of Indio, Coachella, La Quinta, Palm Desert and Rancho Mirage.

Historically, residents of the Coachella Valley have had no representation on the IID Board of Directors, despite the fact that over half of IID’s electricity customers reside in the eastern half of the Coachella Valley.

As a result of negotiations between Assemblywoman Bonnie Garcia and the IID Board, a compromise was reached whereby the District would establish an Energy Consumers Advisory Committee comprised of Coachella Valley residents. The ECAC would receive “relevant and actionable materials” in order to advise the IID Board on the needs and wants of energy customers in the Coachella Valley.

“These three respected Coachella Valley residents will serve our Fourth District residents well and will make our voice heard at the Imperial Irrigation District,” said Fourth District Supervisor and Board Chairman Roy Wilson. Supervisor Wilson’s colleagues on the Board of Supervisors unanimously endorsed his selections.
