September Declared 'Recovery Happens Month'
The Riverside County Board of Supervisors has proclaimed September 2008 “Recovery Happens Month,” an annual tradition that promotes the success of various programs in helping Californians overcome problematic use of alcohol and other drugs.
The official proclamation from the Board reads, in part “Whereas celebrating individuals in substance abuse recovery and recognizing the achievement of those individuals and their families helps educate our community about the benefits of treatment, affirms that substance use disorders are treatable, and builds a strong, healthier community…”
There are events scheduled for both the Riverside area and here in the Palm Desert Civic Center Park.
