Free 9/11 Concert in Palm Desert Park Supports International Event
On September 11, 1956, President Dwight Eisenhower delivered his famous speech during the White House Summit on Citizen Diplomacy calling for people-to-people ties. The world however will remember the date in another year.
Join the Palm Desert Sister Cities Foundation, City leaders, fellow citizens and other cities around the world at 7.00pm at the Palm Desert Civic Center Park for an hour long concert featuring The Palm Desert High School Band Wind Ensemble , special Guest Soloist, Darlene Romano and a special tribute to the World Trade Center Firefighters. Please bring a candle and comfort items (blanket, water etc…). The concert is free.
In 2002, the September Concert Foundation was born. Sister Cities International is a global affiliate and partner with the SCF to host annual events worldwide. In 2007 there were over 200 concerts and more than 3,000 performers. In addition to 119 concerts in New York, 42 other US cities hosted concerts as well as 39 international cities including Rome, Paris, Beijing, Tokyo, Johannesburg and Casablanca. The message: peace through music.
