Chair of former President Dwight Eisenhower
This chair was once a favorite of former President Dwight Eisenhower, as he relaxed at his home in the Coachella Valley. It will be on the auction block as Christian Schools of the Desert conducts its annual auction at the Palm Springs Air Museum on Nov. 1.

Piece of Presidential History Featured in CSOD Auction

A chair that once belonged to former President Dwight D. Eisenhower will be auctioned as part of the Christian Schools of the Desert's 19th Annual Auction Gala, the "Thanks for the Memories" event, taking place on Saturday, Nov. 1 at the Palm Springs Air Museum.

La Quinta Ridge mobile home park trenching work on the west side of Monroe Street La Quinta Ridge mobile home park trenching across Monroe
Work continues on the new water supply for the La Quinta Ridge mobile home park, after unacceptable levels of the chemical perchlorate were found in the Indio park's water system. On August 28, the Riverside County Environmental Health Department began fining the park owners $1,000 per day. Health Department officials say that fine will remain in place till the permanent new hookup is complete. Upper photos shows trenching work on the west side of Monroe Street, while the lower photo shows trenching across Monroe is complete.

Mayor Robert Crain, left, and Supervisor Roy Wilson, both members of the Palo Verde Transit Agency Board of Directors inspect a new bus of the type approved by the Board this week. Two new heavy duties buses of this type will cost the Agency at total of $302,969. This week’s Transit Agency meeting also featured the introduction of the Agency’s new General Manager, David A. Lane, who takes that role as the new Blythe City Manager.

Coachella Valley Housing Coalition Awarded $15 Million Plus

The Indio-based Coachella Valley Housing Coalition (CVHC) has announced the award of $15,683,587 in State and Federal Affordable Housing Tax Credits to construct a new Farm worker Manufactured Home Park in Mecca. This rental project will provide permanent housing for farm workers and their families in the Eastern Coachella Valley.

Smile Factory Receives Donation From Agua Caliente Band

The Smile Factory for the Children of the Desert has been awarded a $10,000 donation by the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians to assist in The Smile Factory’s outreach efforts. This grant had made it possible for The Smile Factory to provide much-needed dental services for Valley youngsters at the Sunny Sands Elementary School located in Cathedral City, within Palm Springs Unified School District.

New Palo Verde Valley Cemetery District Board sworn in by Fourth District Supervisor Roy Wilson. The new panel members are, left to right, Max Schoenrock, Doris Morgan and Beatrice Pinon. The three have agreed to work as a team to clear up financial difficulties that the Cemetery District has been experiencing. The new Board plans its first meeting Monday, September 8 at 6:30 p.m. at the Community Center on North Broadway.
