Patton Museum Marks 20th Anniversary During Nov. 8 Ceremonies

Fourth District residents have a chance to share in an historic moment when the General Patton Memorial Museum celebrates its 20 th anniversary on Saturday, Nov. 8, beginning at 9:30 a.m.

The Veteran’s Day event is free and open to the public and honors General George S. Patton, Jr. and the Native American Code Talkers. Live patriotic music by the Navy Band Southwest, an appearance by the 11 th Calvary Horse Detachment, and the unveiling of the Defenders of Freedom Wall, the newest addition to the museum, are all part of the festivities.

Meet Brigadier General Wilma Vaught, USAF (Ret), founder of the Women In Military Services for Americans Memorial in Washington, DC. and Honorary Chairwoman of the Museum.

An historic adventure for the entire family, museum exhibits include the Tank Yard with WWII military equipment, uniforms, weapons, medals as well as artifacts used by WWII fighting men and women, as well as the West Coast Vietnam Wall which honors the men and women who served during the Vietnam War.

The General Patton Memorial Museum is a testament to the role General Patton and his Desert Training Center played in winning World War II. The museum is among important historic sites for Patton’s military training operations, located one mile from his Camp Young Field Operations headquarters and the former Army Airfield.
