Supervisor Wilson, Stater Bros., Launch Food Drive

With so many families in need with our economy slumping Riverside County Supervisors and Stater Bros. Markets have teamed up to launch the first-ever county-wide food drive. You heard about it here on Nov. 4.

Now, the local launch of the food drive is set for this Friday, Nov. 14 at 2 p.m. at the Stater Bros. supermarket at the Marketplace in Desert Palms (Just south of Sun City Palm Desert).

Every Stater Bros. supermarket in the county (47 in all) has joined with the County Supervisors to launch this effort.

County Supervisor/ Board Chairman Roy Wilson, along with his colleagues, will be joined by the president of Stater Bros. Markets to kick off this important drive. All food collected in the Stater Bros. Markets will be donated to either   Food in Need of Distribution (FIND) in Cathedral City or to Second Harvest Food Bank in the City of Riverside.

Both food pantries’ supplies are running critically low and this joint effort is intended to help families in need during the holidays. The drive runs through Friday, Jan. 2. Canned and dry goods are being accepted and may be placed in barrels in each Stater Bros. supermarket. To help out, please go to www.rcfooddrive.org. Momentary contributions are accepted online.

The Desert Palms store is located at The Marketplace, 78210 Varner Road, near the intersection of Interstate 10 and Washington Street.
