Exotic Car Auction Expected to Draw 20,000 to Downtown P.S.
More than 20,000 people from around the world are expected to descend on Downtown Palm Springs beginning today for the 23 rd annual Palm Springs Exotic Car Auction.
More than 550 classic cars valued at over $15 million will be on display at the event, which runs through Sunday in the parking lot of the Spa Resort Casino, according to auction founder and organizer Keith McCormick.
The event begins today with a 4 p.m. auction of 80 vehicles crossing the block and admission is free for everyone.
Saturday and Sunday, the gates will open at 8 a.m. with the first car crossing the block at 10 a.m. General admission is $10 per day or $15 for both days.
The auction, a much-loved Palm Springs tourist attraction, draws buyers and sellers from overseas, across the country and from the Coachella Valley. Some come to buy, some come to sell, and others come to get an up-close look at classic domestic and imported cars that include the Pontiac GTO, Chevrolet Corvette, Shelby Cobra, Ford Mustang and other vintage cars like Bentley and Rolls Royce, McCormick said.
