Paving Project to Close Ramon at Washington in June

The headline has the bad news: East Ramon will be closed for approximately a month beginning in June as the Rivco Transportation Department undertakes a paving project around the Ramon/Washington curve. This project is actually the second phase of the repaving from San Miguelito in Thousand Palms to Thousand Palms Canyon Road.

The good news is that this latest project will provide a reconstructed roadway from Thousand Palms Canyon Road, around the corner and thence south on Washington to Frances Way just north of Sun City Palm Desert.

This paving is scheduled to start in June, and will require full road closure for approximately one month. There will still be access from Ramon to Thousand Palms Canyon, and north Washington all the way to Frances . . . but the “big bend” connecting Washington and Ramon will be out of service.

More good news: as part of this project, Rio Del Sol in Thousand Palms will be paved from Varner to Vista Chino.

Stay tuned to this site for more updates as they are available.
