Bermuda Dunes Overlay Set for Planning Commission
The “Bermuda Dunes Neighborhood Preservation Overlay Zone” will be in front of the Riverside County Planning Commission tomorrow (Wednesday) at La Quinta City Hall.
The public hearing is scheduled to get under way at 9:30.
The Overlay Zone proposes to establish guidelines and rules which are designed to approve the esthetics of the community. Hammered out by a Committee which included both proponents of tighter controls and opponents of the Overlay, the compromise draft ordinance revision was completed recently.
In December 2007, a presentation was made by the Planning Department at the request of the Bermuda Dunes Community Council. The Council and others in the community wanted to have additional code enforcement rules in place more stringent than elsewhere in the County. The group had precedent: the community of Eastvale in the Supervisor John Tavaglione’s Second District has a similar overlay in place.
The Bermuda Dunes Overlay Zone provides limitations on parking of RV s and boats, requires additional “screening” of air conditioner compressors and trash cans, and places restrictions on outdoor lighting.
More information on the types of issues addressed by the Overlay Zone can be obtained by visiting the Planning Department website. For Wednesday’s agenda, click here Agenda, and scroll down to item 5.1.
The public is encouraged to attend Planning Commission meetings.
