Mecca Area Railroad Work to Close Three Intersections
Riverside County’s Transportation Department is processing a road closure permit for the Union Pacific railroad in the community of Mecca. The Railroad is planning a total track-renewal project in the area.
The work will be for the removal and replacement of the existing railroad tracks and ties.
Intersections that will be impacted include 62nd Avenue, 4th Street and the Hammond Road (called “Thobe Road” by Union Pacific) crossing to the southeast.
The dates of the proposed closures are between April 2 and April 10, with the following schedule:
Ave. 62
:
Closed from April 2 at 6 a.m. through April 5 at 6 p.m.
Closed from April 7 from 6 a.m. through April 8 at 6 p.m.
4th Street in Mecca
:
Closed April 6 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Closed from April 9 at 6 a.m. till April 10 at 6 p.m.
Hammond Road
:
Closed from April 7 at 6 a.m. through April 10 at 6 p.m.
This is not a County of Riverside project. RoadSafe Traffic Systems will be providing traffic control for Union Pacific while they refurbish their line and repair the crossings.
