Palm Desert Golf Cart Parade Launches Annual Theme Contest
…And the tradition continues.
The 45th Annual Palm Desert Golf Cart Parade is coming to El Paseo this fall, of course, and Chamber officials say it’s time to start thinking about a theme, since entries are due on May 29 (The parade isn’t till October 25th, but there’s a lot of preparation between theme announcement and the parade itself).
For almost a half century, the City has been celebrating its uniqueness with a cavalcade of decorated carts, floats, bands, dance groups activities, celebrities and more.
You, too, can hitch a ride in the world famous Golf Cart Parade by submitting the winning theme for the fall 2009 parade and thousands will see your name and theme. Submit your witty, clever or whimsical theme for the parade and if your theme is chosen, you ride in the parade in a chauffeured golf cart, receive a commemorative 2009 Palm Desert Golf Cart Parade shirt and an introduction at a press conference announcing the winner, and other VIP recognitions. Entries are now being accepted; submissions, as we say, are due by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 29.
Anyone is eligible to enter the contest except the Parade Committee members and their immediate families. Submitted themes may contain from one to ten words. A description of the theme may be used for clarification. All entries must be submitted on an official entry form, or facsimile thereof, which is available at the Palm Desert Chamber of Commerce, the Palm Desert Visitor Information Center, City Hall, and attached to this message.
Past themes have included: Take a Walk on the Wild Side, Through a Child’s Eyes, Salute to America and The Future’s so Bright you Gotta Wear Shades, just to name a few.
The annual Palm Desert Golf Cart Parade has the most amazing floats you have ever seen built on a golf cart and it’s a real community event that unites everyone in the valley and brings visitors from all over. The Planning Committee and Chairman, Lisa Slam, together are looking forward to bringing another event that celebrates Palm Desert and the greater desert community and the people who make it so special.
