NFL Coach Jim Mora to Play in Palm Desert Chamber Golf Tourney

If you’re a fan of professional football, you now have additional incentive to participate in the 15th Annual Palm Desert Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament on Monday, April 27.

Jim Mora, former coach of the New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts (and father of the current Seattle Seahawks head coach with the same name), will be participating alongside the rest of the players during the annual tournament at Monterey Country Club.

Coach Mora is best known for turning two of the NFL's consistently losing franchises into perennial post-season contenders, and his often impassioned post-game press conferences, which featured his oft-quoted "Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda," "Diddly Poo," and famous "Playoffs?"  This is a coach who has worked with some of the best of professional football; here is the chance to meet him up close and personal.

His attendance at this year’s golf tournament is an added bonus for participating players, who’l l get to meet Coach Mora before play, out on the links, and at the after play Awards Reception.  Coach Mora will be playing along with Title Sponsor, Desert Commercial Banks Team.  Will Desert Commercial Bank be able to keep the “Banker’s Cup” that they won last year? Either way, maybe Coach Mora will have a few memorable things to say afterwards.

“Having Coach Mora out on the course is just another way the Palm Desert Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament is doing everything it can to be different and offer new things for the players and sponsors who make this event happen” says Chamber Golf Committee Chair Joe Dikdan of Ironwood Country Club.  “Coach Mora is a great individual and a class act and we are fortunate enough to have him come out and have a great time with us”

The Golf Tournament still has a few spaces open for players and teams.  Along with this great opportunity, players will be treated to a lunch, course games and prizes, a poker hand competition on the course, opportunities to win a Toyota Venza or $25,000 cash from Toyota of the Desert, or a Club Car golf cart from Electric Car Distributors. There’s also a chance to meet Harpo the Clown and attempt to outplay him on a hole, and meet other great businesses who are promoting on the course along the way.

A silent sports themed auction, opportunity drawings for prizes including a Maserati Weekend from Desert European Motorcars, Rounds of Golf to courses like Bighorn Golf Club, vacation packages and more.  To sign up, call 346-6111 ASAP or email  andy@pdcc.org

Fees are $150.00 and open to public to participate.
