COD to Hold Auditions for Fall ’09 Opera ‘Die Fledermaus’
Auditions for COD’s Fall opera production are Wednesday, May 13 at 7 p.m. in the Pollock Theatre.
A comic operetta with dialogue, Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss, will be presented with a new English translation. Four performances are scheduled for the beginning of December. Rehearsals take place on Monday and Wednesday evenings throughout the Fall semester.
Roles include: Eisenstein, leading man, in his 30s, strong comic delivery required, tenor or high baritone; Rosalinda, leading lady, 20s- early 30s, lyric soprano; Adele, 20s, lively soubrette soprano, strong comic skills required; Sally, 20s, some dialogue; Count Orlovsky, mezzo soprano playing a Russian prince, strong comic timing required; Falke, leading man, trained baritone, debonair, strong dialogue delivery required; Frank, bass or baritone, bull in a china shop; Dr. Blind, tenor, strong comedic skills required; Alfred, leading man, full operatic tenor, Italian accent and comic skills; Frosch, character actor, no singing, scene stealer, must play drunk well.
Please bring an aria or theater song, preferably in English, that best displays your vocal skills. Accompaniment will be provided. No tracks or a cappella. There will be some reading of dialogue.
