COD Foundation Announces New Board Officers for 09/10
The College of the Desert Foundation, a non-profit organization that raises money for COD, has announced a new slate of officers for 2009-10.
Lisa Houston was elected to a serve as Board President. Bradley Ramos is Vice President, Peter Solomon is the new Secretary and Dick Baxley is Treasurer.
Houston joined the Foundation Board of Directors in 2004. She and husband Jim Houston III are area ranchers who have co-chaired the Grand Prix for COD fundraising events for four years, helping to raise funds for the COD Library and Foundation. She was honored at the COD Alumni Association Hall of Fame Dinner as “Outstanding Community Leader” in 2006.
Ramos is the Chief of Police for the City of Indio. He was appointed to the COD Foundation Board of Directors in 2008-09. Ramos serves as President of the Riverside County Police Chiefs Association and the Coachella Valley Police Chiefs Association, and is an active member of the COD-PSA Law Enforcement Advisory Council.
Solomon, a commercial and residential developer of such subdivisions as Regency Homes and Victoria Falls, is also a financier and former president of Cattle Valley Farms in Thermal. In 2008, he was one of three men vying for the Man About Town title in a fund-raising event sponsored by the COD Foundation. Solomon raised the most money and was named Man About Town at a Foundation gala.
Baxley is owner/broker of Baxley Properties, Inc. operating in the Coachella Valley as a commercial/investment real estate brokerage firm since 1997. He was appointed to the Foundation Board of Directors in 2008-09. A resident of Palm Desert, he has memberships in the following: CORE Network; International Council of Shopping Centers; Board of Realtors memberships in Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, Indian Wells and Palm Springs; and the Institute of Real Estate Management.
