Salton Sea Park Hosts Free Fishing Day—No License Needed
The Salton Sea State Recreation Area, in conjunction with the California Department of Fish and Game, announces a Free Fishing Day and Fishing Derby on two dates this summer.
No license is required for the two events, to be held on Saturday, July 4 and Monday, September 7 at the park in North Shore, CA. The park is located 9 miles south of Mecca on Highway 111.
The weather has been warming up and that means the Tilapia are biting. So bring the family, your bait and poles and enjoy the catch. Prizes will be awarded for the biggest fish caught and weighed in at the Visitor Center at noon. Please note: Day use fees of $6 per vehicle ($5 for seniors 62 yrs and older) will be collected on these days.
The Salton Sea State Recreation Area features an accessible day use area at the jetty and shade ramadas on the beach with barbecues. The public boat launch area is open and campsites are available year round. The Visitor Center hours are 10 a.m. till 4 p.m. Thursday thru Sunday.
