Carlos Ortega to be Honored by Palm Desert Chamber
Former Palm Desert City Manager Carlos Ortega will receive the Citizen of the Year Award during the Palm Desert Chamber of Commerce’s 55 th Annual Installation and Volunteer Recognition Dinner on June 24.
In receiving the “George V. Berkey, Sr. Award,” the Chamber will acknowledge an extremely popular city leader, who was first appointed to the City Manager’s post in 2000. According to the chamber’s news release, the award is “presented to an individual who has pledged and demonstrated dedication to the Chamber, the City of Palm Desert and the Coachella Valley in an effort to better the way in which we all live and do business.”
The Palm Desert Chamber of Commerce will also recognize several others during the ceremonies, including:
Jay Chesterton, VP Hotel Food and Beverage, Fantasy Springs Resort Casino, Business Person of the Year.
Presented to an individual recognized for success in business, contributions to the community, and contributions to the Chamber of Commerce.
Orr Builders, Community Service Award
Presented to an individual, business or organization contributing invaluable time, talents and efforts to the benefit of others.
Tommy Bahamas, Member Business of the Year Award
Presented to a Palm Desert Chamber of Commerce member business for contributions of time and effort on behalf of the Chamber.
Joe Dikdan, Ironwood Country Club, Volunteer of the Year
Presented to an individual who has demonstrated outstanding commitment to implementation of the Chamber’s purpose, goals and objectives. It is given to an individual who not only becomes involved, but takes charge and successfully accomplishes the tasks at hand.
Carlos Hernandez, Maintenance Service Manager, Award of Excellence, City of Palm Desert
Presented to an employee of the City of Palm Desert for extraordinary service to the community.
Natalie Russo, Firstbank, Board Member of the Year
Outstanding leadership serving on the Board of Directors (selected by Chairman of the Board)
(Additional Surprise Awards include: Chairman’s Achievement Award & Ambassador of the Year.)
The 2009-2010 Palm Desert Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors will also be introduced.
