Rivco Economic Development Agency Receives State Award

The Riverside County Economic Development Agency has received one of the state’s most prestigious awards for its work in the area of economic development.

Deputy Secretary of Economic Development, Business, Transportation, and Housing Agency, Brian McGowan, State of California, made the presentation this morning at 9:00 AM at the County Board of Supervisors meeting before a standing room only audience. 

McGowan praised the Economic Development Agency for sustained excellence in business attraction, business retention, and for creating a business-friendly climate in a tough market. McGowan also lauded EDA for its work on the Regional Economic Recovery Work Plan. This plan is being reviewed and is the master plan for innovative ways to stimulate local economies across the Inland Empire and Desert Regions.

Chairman of the Board of Supervisors Jeff Stone said the county is committed to economic development and business attraction and will continue to aggressively promote the county as a business destination with a high quality of life.  Rob Field, Assistant County Executive Officer, EDA thanked the Secretary for the award and congratulated staff on a job well done. 

The 2008 Award of Excellence is sponsored by the California Association for Local Economic Development and awarded annually to government agencies demonstrating excellence in economic development.
