U.S. Chamber Awards Palm Desert with 5-Star Accreditation

The Palm Desert Chamber of Commerce has earned the highest level of accreditation that the United States Chamber awards.

The U.S. Chamber awarded the Palm Desert Chamber a 5-Star Accreditation for its sound policies, effective organizational procedures, and positive impact on the community. The Palm Desert Chamber is one of only two 5-Star Accredited chambers in the state of California and one of fifty five in the United States out of 6,936 chambers.

Accreditation recognizes chambers for their high standards of practice, full accountability to members, and steadfast commitment to community,” said Thomas J. Donohue, president and CEO, U.S. Chamber of Commerce. “We applaud these organizations for advancing these principles of free enterprise.”

Accreditation is the only national program that recognizes chambers for their effective organizational procedures and community involvement. In order to receive Accreditation, a chamber must meet minimum standards in their operations and programs, including areas of governance, government affairs, and technology. This extensive self-review can take 6-12 months to complete.

"Congratulations go out to our members, volunteers and exceptional staff for this prestigious distinction," said Mike Hardin, Palm Desert Chamber Chairman of the Board. "This, in addition to our California State Chamber award from the President’s Circle this year, exemplifies what an outstanding Chamber we have and I look forward to the future as we continue to strengthen, promote and serve our member businesses."

Local chambers are rated Accredited, 3-Stars, 4-Stars, or 5-Stars. State chambers are recognized as either Accredited State Chamber or Accredited State Chamber with Distinction. The final determination is made by the Accrediting Board, a committee of U.S. Chamber board members.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world’s largest business federation, representing more than three million businesses and organizations of every size, sector, and region.

The Palm Desert Chamber is the largest business federation in the Coachella Valley, representing more than 1,200 member companies who employ thousands of workers that make a substantial contribution to the overall economic impact in Palm Desert and the entire Coachella Valley. Plus, they do it without tax dollars.
