‘Prevent Child Abuse’ Chapter Launched in Blythe
Prevent Child Abuse Riverside County (PCARC) has announced the formation of a Blythe Chapter recently activated and named, “Prevent Child Abuse Blythe Collaborative.”
Established in 1983 as a grassroots organization, PCARC is comprised of individuals from public and private agencies and concerned members of the community. Prevent Child Abuse Riverside County (PCARC) was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in 2002. PCARC was established in 1983, expanding to several collaborative areas.
The goal of the Blythe Collaborative is to assist the Palo Verde Valley community in preventing child abuse. The Blythe collaborative is also seeking to educate the community about the various forms of child abuse and the adverse affect it takes on children.
“For example, we will be diligently working to provide information on substance abuse and its correlation to child abuse and/or neglect,” said Shannon O’Brien, Chairwoman of the Blythe Collaborative. “We are looking forward to sponsoring local community events as well as providing training in the upcoming year.”
The Chairwoman and the Vice Chair, Cristine Castro, are both from the Riverside County Probation Department. The collaborative’s Secretary is Lisa Crispin of Ironwood State Prison. Additionally, professionals from several other local agencies such as the Palo Verde Unified School District, the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office, and the Child Protective Services are represented on the Blythe Collaborative.
Anyone interested in joining this organization is encouraged to attend the group’s next meeting July 14, at the City Hall Multipurpose Room from noon till 1 p.m.
It only takes a minute…to make a difference in the lives of children.
And don’t forget, the Child Abuse Hotline is (800) 442-4918.
