Fourth District Supervisor Hears the Call for Help

Supervisor Roy Wilson, heeding the call for help from the non-profit “Soldiers Organized Services,” has elected this week to donate $1,000 per month over the next year to the cause.

Soldiers Organized Services runs a free shuttle service for U.S. service personnel, most of them headed from Palm Springs Airport to 29 Palms Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center.

Responding to a cry for help from the group to finance gasoline purchases (the drivers volunteer their time and their own vehicles), Supervisor Wilson requested funding of $12,000 from Fourth District Community Improvement Designation funds, and the Board of Supervisors unanimously approved that request.

The expenditure from the Supervisor’s CID fund account came on the last day of the fiscal year, June 30.
